This exciting contemporary dance event is returning to the Jack Guidone Theater for its second year. Directed and produced by Sara Hoke, District Dance Share (DDS) is a vehicle for collaboration, networking, expression and performance, bringing fellow artists together to share and present new work. The event provides DC dance followers with the opportunity to enjoy new work by both recognized and emerging choreographers.
In 2009, Sara invited friends and artists to bring their work to the first annual District Dance Share. The event sparked several future collaborations and working relationships among the participating artists.
2010's submission and adjudication process has resulted in the congregation of an array of artists along the east coast (from New York City to Raleigh!), from different backgrounds and levels of exposure. Sara is thrilled to announce that District Dance Share 2010 will showcase works by Annex Dance Company, Code f.a.d. Company, Tzveta Kassabova, pro ekoh dance, Kara Priddy, rva dance collective, UpRooted Dance, Word Dance Theater and Dawn Young.

Saint Laurent was a “true creator,” going beyond the aesthetic to make a social statement, Berge said. Set in the 1960s, “Manifesto” follows revolutionaries (dressed in pantsuits and safari jackets made famous by Saint Laurent) as they struggle with feelings of power, anger, and emptiness during this volatile time in U.S. history.
